Exploring Guntersville: A Memorable Journey
As I mentioned in a previous newsletter, Jason is an excellent tour guide. Allow me to share the story of our latest adventure.
Usually, we embark on our sightseeing trips after church on Sundays. However, this time, Jason and Jennifer had business to attend to in Guntersville during the week. So, on Saturday morning, we all climbed into the car and set off for Guntersville, one of Alabama’s historic settlements surrounded by beautiful lakes.
Once the business matters were swiftly handled, we ventured up a steep hill for lunch at a spot called O’Charley’s. If you ever find yourself in Guntersville, you simply must try their potato soup?"it's out of this world.
After our delicious meal, we began our tour, which included a visit to Guntersville State Park. Coming from Pennsylvania, I am particularly fond of hills and trees as they remind me of home. Having lived in Florida for 23 years, seeing such landscapes means traveling far north.
After about a 30-minute drive, we reached our destination?"and what a remarkable place it was. We stayed in the bustling lower levels, stopping frequently for Jennifer and Linda to snap pictures. I hope to share some of these photos in a future article once I learn how to upload them with Jennifer’s help.
As we leisurely toured the park at a slow pace due to the many children around, we climbed the mountain and admired some stunning homes with breathtaking views. Some were for sale with staggering prices like $1.5 million and $672,000.
Continuing our journey, we passed by a lodge under construction that promises to feature a five-star restaurant. We soon reached a lookout point, perfect for more picture-taking.
Ascending even higher, we discovered rental lodges that defy the definition of cottages or camps. Impressively, two lodges were handicapped accessible. We instantly imagined spending a weekend retreat there, enjoying the luxury and fine dining. We're planning to save up for this escapade and invite a family friend from Florida to join us. It sounds delightful, wouldn't you agree?
After spending a bit more time in the state park, we headed home, where my cat and their dogs warmly welcomed their returning humans.
