Some people believe I have it all, but I don't see it that way. My relationship with writing is a constant tug-of-war. Reading is a passion, and I love writing?"when it's on my terms. However, when tasked with topics like changing car oil or choosing the right motherboard, I have to drag myself to the computer, urging my fingers to move.
This has been my reality, churning out article after article to meet tight deadlines. Sometimes, I complete up to 30 pieces in a day. It's not as idyllic as it seems.
Ironically, I spent much of my life searching for something that excites and challenges me?"something I wanted to do, not felt forced to do. In the real world, even your passions can become burdens when people dictate how you should write.
Despite this, I keep going. Writing is what I know best. My husband often finds me typing away at night, shaking his head with a chuckle, "Still writing? Why?"
I reply, half-smiling, "Because I’m paid for this. I love it. It’s my job. It’s my life."
Over the years, other opportunities have come my way. I wondered if a change might be better. I could still write, but it would be my own material?"my novels, my articles, my blog, my diary. No one else telling me how to write?"ever!
Yet, I turn away from those opportunities because I truly love writing. If I switched to selling insurance or real estate, it would feel temporary. When I write, I do it well, quickly, and efficiently. It makes me proud, even if my fingers and eyes ache.
Writing is a passion. If you’re passionate about writing, it shows in your work. Every article I write is like a little masterpiece. They are my creations, my "babies," and I’ve lost count of how many I have now. They are a part of me.
I’ve learned to write quickly and effectively without losing steam. Just get started, write, write, write. Once a draft is complete, go back and refine it. If you dwell too long on the first few sentences, you’ll never finish.
With this approach, I make my living as a writer.
Do I still love writing after years of covering dry topics? I suppose I love to hate it, and sometimes hate to love it.
I imagine I’ll keep writing until my last breath, whispering, "Honey, fetch my keyboard?"I want to be buried with it."
