These cars are built by Nippon Sharyo from Japan and powered by Toshiba traction motors. However, a crucial component?"the final drives?"will be supplied by Voith Turbo in York, Pennsylvania. These drives are assembled and tested locally using materials from qualified U.S. suppliers.

Looking Forward
The first 16 Highliner cars have already begun service with Metra. Voith is set to deliver a total of 116 final drives throughout the program.
