Honda Motor Company, Ltd. has unveiled plans to establish a new automobile plant in Yorii, located in Osato County, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The plant is slated to commence operations in early 2010, with an estimated annual production capacity of approximately 200,000 engines and finished vehicles.
Yorii, situated 35 kilometers from Sayama City, is in the northwestern part of Saitama Prefecture. This location is close to Honda’s existing Saitama Factory, also known as the Sayama Plant. Once the Yorii plant becomes operational, Honda intends to renovate the Sayama Plant to transform it into an advanced production facility.
Construction of the new Yorii plant is set to begin within the next couple of years, occupying a site of about 800,000 square meters. Honda expects to invest around 70 billion yen in the project, which will employ approximately 2,200 associates once production begins. With this expansion, Honda aims to boost its total annual production from 1.3 million to 1.5 million units.
