Ideal for countryside trips, this game involves counting animals out your side of the car. If you pass a cemetery, all previously counted animals are "buried," and you start counting from one again.
3. I Spy
A classic game with endless variations. Whether by color, shape, or other characteristics, it's always a hit, particularly with my younger son.
4. Map It
Grab a state map for your young traveler. As you pass landmarks, use a pen or pencil to trace your route. This visual aid helps kids see exactly how far you've traveled.
