We swiftly retrieved our luggage and purchased week-long transit passes?"an excellent deal at just $24 for unlimited travel. Thus began our adventure to Brooklyn. A bus ride through a vibrant Latin neighborhood in Queens and a subway journey through Manhattan led us to our charming bed and breakfast, nestled in a beautiful area just south of Prospect Park.
An initial misstep with the subway had us disembarking at the wrong station, resulting in a half-hour walk to our B&B. However, this detour offered a delightful first glimpse of Brooklyn: an area rich with stately homes and century-old houses, where magnolia and cherry blossoms adorn meticulously kept gardens. The neighborhood exudes a sense of safety and warmth.
At our B&B, we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Harry and Bibi, a hospitable couple in their 40s. They showed us to our cozy room on the third floor, featuring a shared bathroom. The entire house is designed as a B&B, with eight bedrooms and shared kitchens on the second and third floors, creating a homey, apartment-like atmosphere.
I had thoroughly researched accommodation options in New York City before deciding on the B&B. Considering hotels, hostels, and other options, the B&B emerged as the most comfortable and affordable choice at $90 per night. It serves as the perfect base for exploring the wonders of New York City.
Overall, this experience marks a promising start to our journey in the city that never sleeps, and I can't wait to discover more of its endless attractions.
