Our journey began with my brother and sister-in-law taking a day off for an excursion to Mangart, a stunning mountain peak in Slovenia, just a three-hour drive from my hometown. Exploring Local Charms and Culture
On our way back, we stopped in Tarvisio, a vibrant border town thriving on trade among Austria, Slovenia, and Italy. Returning home, I ventured to the nearby Teichalm-Sommeralm area, known as Almenland, the largest continuous high-altitude alpine meadow area in Europe. Our East Styrian tour continued to Schloss Kapfenstein, now a luxury hotel and restaurant atop an extinct volcano. There, we enjoyed lunch with views of the distant Carinthian and Slovenian Mountains.
That evening, we visited friends Luis and Isabella, ending the day with a scooter ride around town and reminiscing late into the night. As I packed for my morning departure to Vienna airport, I reflected on the richness of my nine-day journey.
