Top Five Favorite Cruise Destinations
Are you considering a cruise vacation? With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to decide on your first cruise. Here, I’ll share my top five favorite cruise itineraries and why they hold a special place in my heart.
Why Cruising is the Way to Go
Choosing just five favorites was no easy task?"I love cruising for its unique convenience. You only unpack once, and you get to explore multiple incredible destinations without the hassle of constant travel and accommodation changes. It’s the perfect way to relax and see the world.
Fifth Place: Europe
Cruising through Europe was an unforgettable experience, offering a glimpse into places I might never have seen otherwise. This 15-day adventure took me to Copenhagen, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, Tallinn, and even Paris via a bus ride.
Paris was breathtaking with its countless attractions. I recommend taking a tour to make the most of your time. In St. Petersburg, we had a delightful two-day stop?"it’s a must to visit the Hermitage Museum. Touring each port added depth to the journey, revealing the rich history and unique lifestyles of each locale.
Fourth Place: 10-Night Caribbean
The Caribbean offers numerous itineraries, but my favorite included stops at San Juan, Puerto Rico; Key West, Florida; and the Bahamas.
- San Juan, Puerto Rico: This stop was meaningful as my father was born here. First-time visitors should explore San Juan and its historic fort.
- Key West: I fell in love with this charming island. A tour is worth it despite our limited time there, and I regret not taking one.
- Bahamas: This port offered a delightful mix. Don’t miss the extensive aquarium at the large hotel on the other side of the bridge.
Third Place: Mexico
Cruising the Mexican Riviera is incredibly relaxing, showcasing the diverse life in Mexico across ports like Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Mazatlan. Some itineraries even include Acapulco and Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, extending the adventure to ten or eleven days.
Second Place: Alaska
Alaska’s stunning natural beauty makes it a top choice. My husband and I have sailed here seven times, and the awe-inspiring glaciers and abundant wildlife never get old. Spotting eagles and orcas in their natural habitat enriches the experience beyond words.
First Place: Hawaii
Hawaii tops my list. I’ve cruised here three times with Norwegian Cruise Lines, starting from Honolulu and visiting:
- Lahaina, Maui: Renting a car to drive the road to Hana is a must.
- Kona: Explore the clear waters and fascinating fish with the Atlantis Submarine. Don’t miss the coffee plantations.
- Kauai: A helicopter ride reveals the stunning landscapes and waterfalls, featured in numerous films.
- Hilo: Discover volcanic marvels and active lava flows on a local tour.
Additionally, a stop at Fanning Island, Republic of Kiribati, offers a serene escape and a glimpse into a simpler way of life. It’s also a fun spot for collectors to grab unique postage stamps.
Final Thoughts
I hope my experiences inspire you when planning your next cruise. To me, cruising is a passion?"you either love it or you don’t. Take the plunge and decide for yourself!
