"When I was young, I always told my parents I wanted to live in Montana," Cid shared. Having lived in New York and California, she wasn't sure how it would happen.
Cid, a bi-athlete, and Dan, a partner in a computer business and gunsmith, visited Bohart Ranch near Bozeman for a running and shooting competition. Enchanted by the area, they began searching for property in Montana. For Dan, it was a return to his roots, as he had lived in Malta until the age of five.
The couple discovered a beautiful log home on forty acres with breathtaking mountain views, just steps from Fish Creek and 15 miles from Whitehall. Nestled in the Tobacco Root Mountains, the Inn offers rustic charm with modern conveniences, making it a perfect stopover between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
After purchasing the house, a major renovation began. "We'd drive up from California every month to check the progress," Cid recalled. On one of these trips, while hiking to the creek, she was inspired to name it Fish Creek House.
With renovations complete and all necessary licenses obtained, Fish Creek House is now open for business.
The couple is excited to welcome guests, including those with horses. They've built a new barn, arena, and round pen for their own horses and invite guests to bring and board their horses as well. Activities include hiking, antiquing, exploring ghost towns, and hosted shooting clinics at their range. The nearby Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest offers excellent hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing opportunities. It's also a convenient stop between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks.
Just 20 minutes away on scenic Highway 2, the town of Butte offers museums and rodeos to enjoy in a day.
"We want to welcome nature lovers and make you feel like part of the family," Cid expressed.
Dan, an Olympic rifle coach, plans to host shooting clinics at the newly established Fish Creek Gun Club on the property.
Food is another highlight at Fish Creek House. Guests can savor gourmet breakfasts, with vegetables grown organically in their personal greenhouse. The meals are plentiful and delightful.
The inn features two guest suites, each with a private bath, a spacious living room with a stone fireplace, a library, and a cozy sitting room with a microwave and fridge. For business travelers, Fish Creek House offers wireless internet in each room and is considered a "WiFi hotspot." They proudly showcase custom-made Montana pieces in their guest rooms, reflecting their community spirit.
