We also ensure frequent restroom breaks, even when everything seems fine. A three-year-old's bathroom needs can change suddenly, turning into an urgent situation.
Speaking of emergencies, during a trip to Vail, our daughter developed an earache. Always carry medical information when traveling. We had to contact our home doctor to fax her records to the doctor in Vail, delaying our skiing plans for a day.
On a long drive to Mississippi, our then two-year-old had a meltdown. She cried all the way to the Mercedes museum. After a two-hour break to stretch her legs and explore, she was much happier. While adults can sit for long stretches, young children need regular playtime to stay comfortable.
