New Gondola Ski Lift Coming to Breckenridge Ski Resort
Exciting Developments at Breckenridge Ski Resort
After two decades of anticipation, Breckenridge Ski Resort is set to install a new gondola starting in the spring of 2006, with completion expected by Christmas. This gondola will accommodate up to eight people and will begin its journey at the free skier parking lots, passing through the picturesque Shock Hill neighborhood before reaching the base areas of Peaks 7 and 8.
The gondola is a key component of an ambitious expansion plan initiated last year. This plan included the introduction of the Imperial Express ski lift and the extension of a ski trail leading directly to the parking areas. Future developments will focus on enhancing the Peak 7 base area with a new restaurant and additional facilities.
In an effort to preserve Breckenridge's charming main street ambiance, plans are also underway to redirect traffic away from Main Street. These changes mark a period of transformation for the town, promising a refreshed and vibrant atmosphere by next year.
The new gondola will transport up to 3,000 riders per hour, featuring 143 cabins along its 7,843-foot route, supported by 25 towers. With two mid-stations at Shock Hill and the Peak 7 base area, the ride from the transit center to the Peak 8 terminal will take a mere 7.5 minutes.
Join us in Breckenridge, Colorado, for an unforgettable ski vacation. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
