Who Is Afraid of God?
Summary: Many believers claim to fear God, but what does this truly mean?
Article Body:
Many who identify as believers often express a fear of God. But what does this really entail? Are they genuinely afraid in the same way they fear the judgment of their peers when doing something wrong?
Consider this scenario: a colleague leaves their mailbox open and you're tempted to peek inside. If no one is watching, would you refrain, thinking that at least God is observing?
In truth, we are often more fearful of people than of God. Many of us rarely consider God's presence everywhere and at all times. Take a private marriage in a temple, for instance. Here, God is the only witness. If one partner later denies the marriage or insists on secrecy, the other partner is powerless. They can only pray to God, the sole witness, for help, since no human observed the event. Is the person hiding the marriage afraid of God? Sadly, no.
This unfortunate reality shows that those who lie or deceive are more concerned with societal judgment than divine observation. For them, God's power seems insignificant. May God guide these individuals, as only divine intervention can save them from their deceit.
An Indian story illustrates this point. A teacher gave each student a paper slip, instructing them to read it where no one is present. One student didn't return until late. The teacher found him deep in the jungle. When asked why he hadn't read the note, the boy replied, "Sir, you said to read it where no one is present, but I find God is everywhere. So where can I read this?" The teacher praised the boy for his faith and understanding.
The right way to live is to always remember God's presence and to fear God, not humans.
