When God Speaks
Summary:
While God often communicates in a "still, small voice," sometimes His messages can be unmistakably loud.Exploring Christian Prophecy and Goal Setting
My best friend is blessed with the spiritual gift of prophecy. Unlike popular belief, Christian prophecy isn't primarily about predicting the future. Instead, it involves witnessing God’s power in action, recognizing the spiritual battles surrounding us, and conveying God’s miraculous messages to His people.
In my teachings on Christian goal setting, I emphasize Psalm 37:4: "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart." I interpret desires as our core values?"the divine touchstones God has embedded within us. For some, these might include service, compassion, and family; for others, beauty, leadership, and security; and for others still, freedom, growth, and meaning. We all possess these values, even though we might sometimes pursue them imperfectly. Nevertheless, God has intricately linked the fulfillment of our values with our relationship with Him. (For a deeper exploration, see my article on The Deep Desires of Your Heart.)
Recently, my friend's prophetic gift and my teachings converged in an extraordinary way. Over lunch, she shared a message she felt God had given her. It involved hope in a financial situation, but she felt it wasn't meant for her. Could it be for me? The message was clear: "Be obedient, and I will give you the desires of your heart."
The astonishing part? I had never discussed my teachings on the desires of the heart with her, nor did she know the verse from Psalms. Her insight came not from personal knowledge, but from God's wisdom.
Indeed, God did.
