Feeling alone can be overwhelming, but Scripture offers comfort and strength. One passage, in particular, is cherished by my wife, Corky. She signs her name with this reference on every letter she writes, often ending with "In His Palms." Over the years, she has been active in ministry, responding to countless letters with this powerful Scripture as a reminder of God's presence.
Isaiah 49:15-16 (KJV)
15 "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me."
Even if a mother could forget her child, God assures us, "I will not forget thee!" This declaration is emphasized with, "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands." The term "graven" comes from a Hebrew word meaning to carve or cut deeply. This imagery portrays God engraving us on His hands, a profound symbol of permanent commitment.
