Matthew 6:33 (King James Version):
"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
Most of us aspire to love God above all else and prioritize Him in our lives. The reality, however, is that we might not be there yet. Why? Perhaps because we unintentionally place other things before God. Genuine love for God is demonstrated through our actions, not merely our words.
If God is truly our priority, we devote ourselves to fulfilling His will as earnestly as we pursue our personal goals. This means that aligning with God's will should be as important?"if not more so?"than meeting our daily responsibilities like paying bills or going to work. Our priorities determine what we seek first.
Does this mean we must abandon everything to pray and fast constantly? Not necessarily. It means making choices that are guided by God. Do we need to pray every time we make a decision? Prayer is our communication with God, and it doesn't require a special posture?"we can connect with Him in all activities.
Is it possible to prioritize God in this way? Yes, Jesus provided us the example by living among us as a man. Our greatest challenge might be understanding what God desires. To begin, we must get to know God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We can achieve this by reading the Bible and engaging in prayer and worship.
The more we read and pray, the better we come to understand God. If God is our priority, then reading the Bible and praying should be at the top of our list. When we feel the urgency of fulfilling God's will, getting to know Him becomes imperative. This means devoting consistent time to reading the Bible and praying.
If we aim to dedicate two hours a day to seeking God, then we should fit our other important tasks into the remaining 22 hours. If our day isn’t long enough, we should not reduce our time with God but rather adjust other commitments because His will is our priority.
Loving God means doing His will, so if we truly love Him, His will naturally becomes our highest priority.
May God bless you all in the name of Jesus.
