Don’t Hold a Grudge Against Me!
Summary
We all need to be mindful and avoid rushing to judgments. It’s particularly frustrating to be blamed for something I didn’t do, especially when it leads to someone holding a grudge. You probably know the feeling?"helplessness. You might even suspect that someone’s actions were meant to hurt you, prompting an urge to accuse or judge based on emotions.Article Body
It’s essential to pause and consider before making hasty judgments. One of the most disheartening experiences is being wrongly accused and then having a grudge held against you. You know how helpless that feels! Similarly, when you suspect someone has wronged you intentionally, it’s easy to rush to judgment based on your feelings.I recall as a child, some of my friends would discreetly make fun of other kids in the neighborhood. I told them to stop, but when we were confronted, no one believed I was innocent. It seemed like no amount of protest would matter when the evidence seemed clear.
If you feel wronged by someone, whether behind your back or directly, it’s not wise to treat them poorly or ignore them. The Bible advises against judging others:
> “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.” (Romans 2:1)
I believe this is a reminder from God that judging others is not our place because we are imperfect and have at times made similar mistakes. In essence, judging others makes us hypocrites.
The Bible also addresses grudges:
> “Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.” (James 5:9)
> “For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 4:4)
Only the Lord can judge, as He fully comprehends every situation. So, when faced with accusations or grudges, try not to retaliate or become upset. Instead, forgive and pray for both strength and peace. Don’t let the situation fester. By forgiving, you’ll find relief and be able to move forward as intended.
Pray for the strength to forgive. Once you let go, you’ll feel liberated, allowing you to live life the way God intended.
