Daniel 12:4
"Preaching the Gospel is sometimes the most controversial position on Earth. Preaching or ministering the Gospel involves two distinct components: 1. The Truth of Life and 2. Information. Let’s start with the Information side. With its rapid dissemination in our modern world, how much of this information truly reflects the truth?"
Daniel 12:4 instructs, "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” Correspondingly, Hosea 4:6 warns, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."
In Scripture, when God instructs His prophets to seal a book, it signifies the finality of His words on that topic. It marks the culmination of that prophecy. As we study the Bible, we gain knowledge daily, yet many pursue knowledge for its own sake rather than seeking understanding. This pursuit can be misguided, leading people away from the essence of spiritual truths.
John 14:21 emphasizes the central tenet: "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me..." Consider today: are you sure of your salvation? Are you truly living as a Christian, or merely going through the motions?
The Importance of Understanding
Knowledge without understanding is like a blind man with a map. True understanding leads us to Christ and His Kingdom. Jesus taught us the importance of Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding. Each is essential, and without one, the others lose significance.
Although many can recount who Noah was, understanding the deeper reasons for Jesus' earthly mission often eludes them, missing the full meaning of salvation.
Three Types of People in the Church
1. Wisdom without Action:
Those who know Jesus' commandments yet fail to keep them. They are hypocrites, relying solely on works for salvation without true reverence for God.
2. Wisdom with Action:
These individuals embody Wisdom, Knowledge, and Understanding. They hold God in reverence, combining works with faith, representing the truly saved.
3. Unbelievers and Hypocrites:
As highlighted in 1 Corinthians 16:22, "If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha (accursed)." This underscores the urgency of genuine belief and adherence.
Matthew 25:46 warns of the peril of ignoring true salvation: "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."
The Necessity of Salvation
God’s omniscient nature ensures He knows who belongs to Him. Salvation isn't a trivial pursuit but a critical necessity for the soul. Often, personal beliefs are placed above God’s word, but His commandments remain immutable. They demand adherence, not reinterpretation.
Romans 8:7 states, "Because the carnal mind is enmity against God..." and Matthew 10:22 adds, "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved."
Perseverance and Faith
Endurance in faith proves the authenticity of one’s belief. Hebrews 3:6 highlights the importance of steadfastness: "But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end."
Ultimately, the necessity of enduring faith is echoed throughout Scripture, as it affirms the reality and solidity of one’s Christian profession.
