Am I Just a Freak of Nature?
Growing up, church was never a priority for my parents, but my paternal grandparents made sure my four brothers and I attended every chance we got. As a child, I longed to be playing baseball instead of sitting through Sunday School and seemingly endless sermons. Yet, in hindsight, I'm grateful for those experiences. They planted a seed within me.
I absorbed Bible stories?"Creation, Adam and Eve, Noah’s ark, Moses parting the Red Sea, Jesus on the cross?"yet felt conflicted. My science classes at school told a different story, suggesting I evolved from a fish, which emerged from primordial slime. This narrative left me feeling like a mere product of chance, without a creator or purpose. The thought weighed on me, but I didn’t know how to challenge what were presented as scientific facts.
In my early 20s, I started to question everything. Torn between church teachings and school lessons, I felt deceived and sought answers. I didn’t fully grasp Christianity or why Jesus had to die on a cross, but I was driven to discover the truth of my existence. Was I a series of random accidents, or did a greater purpose guide my presence on Earth? This quest fueled my desire for understanding.
I began my search at a local bookstore, ironically in the occult section, hoping to find life's answers. Surprisingly, I stumbled upon "The Late Great Planet Earth" by Hal Lindsey. This book profoundly changed my perspective. It suggested a thrilling eternal future?"if true. Intrigued, I turned to Genesis and was struck by a realization that frightened me: these weren't ancient myths, but events that genuinely occurred. Another of Hal’s books, "The Liberation of Planet Earth," clarified Jesus's role and why God became a man. The reality of Jesus rising from the dead illuminated God's plan from creation to eternity.
Motivated, I delved into atheistic evolution, as taught in schools, and creationism. Observing the world around me, I saw design and purpose in every living thing. Whether studying human vision or the cardiovascular system, or the complexity of a single cell, it became clear that the chances of life originating and evolving without a creator were non-existent.
No, I am not a freak of nature. I have a purposeful destiny, set by a loving Creator. Since that pivotal day in the bookstore, my journey has been incredible and fulfilling. I have never looked back.
