Bush Campaign Stays Connected on the Move
When President George W. Bush's re-election campaign embarks on a bus tour across the American heartland, staying informed is crucial for the president, his team, and the media traveling along. They cannot afford to miss out on breaking news, world events, or updates from the competition.
To ensure constant connectivity, their custom motor coaches are equipped with TracVision L3 satellite TV antennas from KVH Industries Inc. These award-winning systems provide in-motion access to satellite TV, including 24-hour news networks like CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC.
These advanced systems allow everyone on the campaign trail to stay updated and even enjoy some entertainment as they travel. "The speed of political campaigns is increasing with breaking news followed by immediate responses from the competition," explained Jim Dodez, KVH's vice president of marketing. "When a campaign or the media is on the road, access to news from the same sources they rely on in their offices is essential."
TracVision enables every TV on the bus to display different satellite channels, while the TracNet Mobile High-speed Internet System offers two-way internet access with broadband downloads, even during cross-country travels.
The KVH TracVision L3 can deliver satellite television and audio from DirecTV, the Dish Network, or other high-powered satellite systems worldwide, whether the vehicle is moving or stationary.
The president's press pool isn't the only group utilizing KVH's TracVision antennas. ABC News has also deployed three campaign buses, named "Red," "White," and "Blue," leased from Nashville-based Hemphill Brothers, to cover the 2004 presidential election.
These buses serve as mobile television and radio studios, equipped with KVH TracVision systems. This setup allows producers and reporters on board to watch ABC's news shows and other programming from virtually anywhere in the United States.
