A Sweet Way to Make a Difference
Sending a message of hope can significantly impact a meaningful cause. Now, ice cream fans have a delightful opportunity to contribute.
Ice cream enthusiasts?"whether they prefer it on a stick, in a cup, or atop a cone?"can visit Icecream.com to support children with cancer.
Between May 15 and December 31, 2006, Nestlé Ice Cream will donate 25 cents to the City of Hope Cancer Center for every virtual message sent from the site. This funding will support pediatric cancer research, treatment, and education.
Visitors to Icecream.com can write inspiring words, a favorite joke, or simply a hopeful message on a virtual frozen pop stick. These messages will be shared with children currently undergoing treatment.
At the program's conclusion, the virtual pop sticks will be counted, and an equivalent number of real-life sticks will be used to create a playful sculpture. A talented artist will design this kid-friendly piece, which will be displayed at the City of Hope to remind children they are in the thoughts of people nationwide.
The sculpture is set to be unveiled in spring 2007. It may also appear on select frozen treat packages to further promote and expand the initiative.
"We're proud to partner with the City of Hope to support programs benefiting kids with cancer," said Maggie Hughs, senior manager at Nestlé Ice Cream. "We hope that enabling ice cream fans to send virtual messages of hope will not only assist with this important cause but also inspire both the senders and recipients."
