Consider this: Skilled athletes may feel ordinary without awards to their names. Handsome individuals might doubt themselves after a rejection, and talented writers could feel incomplete without a Pulitzer Prize. The quest for external validation can take us on emotional highs, but its absence might lead to a downward spiral.
So, if someone criticizes your new hairstyle, should it affect you? Absolutely not. Who grants them the power to influence your self-worth?
Relying on outside approval for self-esteem is irrational. Everyone is unique and talented in their own right?"you are the authority on yourself. You might not be Michael Jordan on the court, but perhaps you're a better boxer. Martha Stewart might outshine you in the kitchen, but can she play the piano as brilliantly as you?
Feeling down because no one is applauding you? Let it go. Self-pity benefits no one.
