The rest of Sunday was a pleasure; weekends never seem to trouble me. It's the weekdays that sometimes pose a challenge. Monday arrived too soon, and on my way to work, I found myself mulling over the events of the past few days. June’s visit had been a joy?"much anticipated but far too brief. However, we comforted ourselves knowing we’d see her again soon.Gideon continued to both fascinate and bewilder me. I had no doubt he held access to considerable knowledge and power. I was open to some of his concepts, like time travel, since I had accompanied him on a few of those journeys. Nonetheless, reconciling those ideas with my daily reality was a struggle.
As per usual, I was the first to arrive at the office. Flipping on the lights, I found him already seated across from my desk. "Gideon! Not you again!" I exclaimed.
"Feeling bored with me, John?" he replied with a twinkle.
"Of course not," I quickly assured him. "It amazes me how you always show up at the oddest times."
"Good to know. I came because I sense you might need clarity today." His demeanor turned serious, more so than I'd ever seen.
"What do you mean, Gideon?"
"You're worried," he began, "about your employees, your family, your friends. You feel you've done all you can, yet you still can't see the light."
"It’s like you’re reading my mind, Gideon. But I’m only human," I admitted.
"Only human, John? Only human?" He was intense now. "That's just an excuse. You're much more than human. Everyone is, more divine than human. You were all created in the image of the Almighty. Remember the creation legends?"
"Yes, but so what? Whether I'm human or divine, I still care about myself and others. Is it wrong to be concerned for others? Is it weak to care about fellow human beings?"
"Not the caring, John. It’s the worrying. You must distinguish between the two. You care, so you strive to make things right. When they don’t work out, you start worrying, and fear sets in, short-circuiting yourself."
"In what way, O Great One?" I asked, somewhat sarcastically.
