The phone's ring pulled me from a deep sleep, signaling a new day. Before drifting off, I'd been in a vivid green meadow with Mardai, children playing, and friends like Pandayji, Gideon, and Marla. It felt so genuine, yet with morning light streaming through, my logical mind insisted it was merely a dream.
Sitting on the bed's edge, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it. Memories of last night rushed back, vivid and insistent. I knew I needed to speak with Pandayji, as well as Gideon and Marla, to understand what really happened.
Pandayji's flexible schedule meant he could spend significant time with me in Bombay and even accompany me across India. His diverse friendships always amazed me; from princes to peasants, all respected him. Not even the wise of the Himalayas or the elites of Hyderabad could refuse him. Having him as a friend was a true blessing.
In about thirty minutes, we were to meet at the Samarkand Café, part of the hotel. A glance at the clock urged me to hurry. After a refreshing shower, I strode confidently through the lobby toward the café. It was quiet at this hour. I spotted Pandayji in a cozy corner. He greeted me warmly, "Good morning, John. I hope you slept well. Those long flights can be exhausting, especially with all the time zones."
