Since returning from the land of mysteries, where visions of ancient warriors often filled my mind, life had gradually returned to its familiar pace. Fascinating how even the most profound experiences can quickly recede into the shadows of memory?"my Indian adventures were no exception as daily routines took over.
Occasionally, thoughts of Gideon and Marla would surface, though they didn't dominate my day-to-day concerns. Pressing tasks awaited me: finishing and starting manuscripts, preparing for a lecture tour, buying shoes for Jonathan, helping Malika with a flat tire, refinancing my business, and many other demands all vied for my attention.
One evening, while relaxing on my back porch in a sleepy haze, the day's chaos slipped away as I observed the wildlife. Exhausted, I must have nodded off, only to be awakened by someone calling my name. To my surprise, Gideon and Marla stood before me.
"Greetings!" said Gideon. "I didn’t want to disturb you, but we need to talk. Can you spare a few minutes?"
Before I could respond, Marla embraced me warmly and kissed my cheek. "It’s been a few weeks, John, but we needed to see you."
Suddenly alert, I wondered about the urgency of their visit. "I’ve missed you both," I said as they settled into chairs. "I trust all is well. But what’s the rush to see me?"
"We just came from a meeting with the Chief," said Gideon. "Remember? The Big Chief? Creator of the Universe? Alpha and Omega? Our encounter years ago?"
"How could I forget?" I replied. "It still feels like a surreal dream?"the sailing ship, the office in the city, and the party. All seemed very real."
