Optimism: It's More Fun!
Introduction
You've probably heard the saying, "An optimist sees the glass as half full, a pessimist sees it as half empty." To this, I'll add that a realist simply observes that an 8-ounce glass contains 4 ounces of liquid.
We all have the power to choose which perspective to adopt. Personally, I choose optimism because it brings more joy and fulfillment.
The Joy of Optimism
It's undeniably more enjoyable to laugh than to cry. Seeing the best in people and places brings immense satisfaction, unlike focusing on the negatives. Talking about health, happiness, and prosperity is vastly more fulfilling than dwelling on sickness, misery, and poverty.
When you focus on and expect the best, you usually receive it. Choosing pessimism is just that?"a choice. Does living life as a pessimist truly benefit you?
Realism and Perception
Realists might argue they see things as they truly are, without the influence of "rose-colored glasses." They focus on what is happening. But, are we simply victims of random events, or do we shape our own destinies? Believing in the latter is far more empowering.
Reality is subjective and can change rapidly. What seems real today might be different tomorrow. If we control our destiny, does viewing life through a realist lens limit us? Being too tied to "reality" can constrain our thinking and stifle possibilities. Life can change for the better if you look for opportunities. So, why not embrace optimism if you shape your own future?
Conclusion
Call me a dreamer with rose-colored glasses, but living life with optimism is simply more enjoyable. It infuses life with fun and excitement, making every moment richer. So, why not choose to see the glass as half full?
