"Listen," Marla replied, "why walk on water when you can fly?"
"John," Gideon added, "there are ways of traveling you haven’t discovered yet, but we’re here, and that’s what matters. How long are you staying in the Big City?"
"I’m coming back this evening. How about you?"
"We'll be back either this evening or tomorrow. We have a regional meeting at Headquarters, just a few hours long. You remember our Headquarters, right? You visited a few years back."
"Of course, I remember. Meeting God and all that. Is He still around?"
"Where else would He be?" Marla inquired.
"Sometimes I wonder," I muttered.
"Always the cynic, aren’t you, John?" Gideon noted. Without waiting, he continued, "Will you have any free time? We could meet for a bit. You could use some relaxation."
"I’ll be free after my meeting," I replied.
"Why not come to Headquarters with us this afternoon?" Marla suggested. "Our meeting won’t take long, and we can hang out before you head back to the airport. What do you say, John? The Chief will be there, too."
"The last time I visited, it was both wonderful and intimidating, but I’d love to go. Meeting with God isn’t an everyday occurrence."
"Not every day, but every moment you meet God. Sometimes He worries about you. He’s asked us a few times to bring you by for a short visit. He thinks you need inspiration and a closer look at the company." Marla smiled at me, as if that explained everything.
