The Flight Experience
Once we were airborne, I adjusted my seat to relax and enjoy the journey. I've always had a passion for flying. Since my earliest days, I've devoured stories about aviation. At 16, I nearly ran away to join the Royal Air Force, but my father's wisdom and my mother's heartfelt pleas convinced me otherwise. Although I've taken some flying lessons, I find the comfort of commercial jets more agreeable than small, single-engine planes.
Suddenly, a gentle tap on my shoulder interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see the familiar faces of Gideon and Marla. Gideon spoke first, "We hoped you wouldn't mind if we joined you for a while, John."
"Headed to the Big City too?" I asked.
Ignoring my query, Gideon said, "It's nice to have empty seats here. Mind if we sit?"
"Of course, go ahead," I replied.
"We're both heading to the Big City," Marla added, as they settled on either side of me like attentive guardians.
"I didn't expect to see you on this flight," I said. "I was early at the airport and didn't notice you. Did you arrive late?"
"We are never late," Gideon replied with a smile. "We're here, right on time."
"On the plane?" I asked, intrigued.
