Marla seemed to read my thoughts and said, "John, I am aware of what you've been through. I wonder why you use the term 'trials' for your journey. Yes, I know about the loss of your wife, the friends who drifted away, the family conflicts, and the challenge of providing for your children. I'm also aware of those moments when you reached out to God for solace. We'll discuss some of these topics at dinner, and you might see some old friends, as we mentioned our plans to a few people. But for now, let's just enjoy the ride. We're about to make the trans-dimensional shift."
Just then, the sound of the motor changed to an unusual clicking, as if someone else had taken control of the car's instruments. Suddenly, a brilliant flash of light engulfed us, and I felt suspended in time and space. It seemed like a lucid dream, and I thought I would wake up in my bed. But this was no dream. Gideon assured me of its reality by saying, "You're truly experiencing this, John. We'll arrive soon."
