New Age Spirituality: Morning Has Been All Night Coming (Part 35)
Summary
We often forget our moments of glory and joy, becoming caught up in life's challenges. It's easy to react with anger and frustration when things feel beyond our control. However, it's crucial to remember that we are the creators of our own narratives. We are the actors, directors, and playwrights of our lives. The reasons for our trials are deeply personal and sometimes unclear even to us.
Article Body
In the hustle of life, we quickly forget our glorious moments and the joy of simply being. It’s all too easy to get trapped in frustration, anger, and impatience when life seems uncontrollable. Yet, this is precisely when we must recognize that we are in the midst of a drama of our own making. We are the scriptwriters of our own stories, shaping every scene and act.
During a particularly tough time, a friend once told me, “It’s only a test, John. It will pass.” In frustration, I shouted back, "Only a test? I’m tired of tests! I don’t want any more!"
To give some context, I wasn’t dealing with life-threatening issues at the time?"not even close. It was simply a series of minor irritations that had been building up. Yet, by my reaction, you might have thought my entire world was falling apart. Recognizing this, I chose to approach the situation with a more enlightened perspective.
While standing there, staring at the keys locked inside my car, I took a deep breath. Suddenly, I heard a soft meow. Turning around, I saw the prettiest kitten beside the car. It looked well-cared for, certainly not a stray. I called to it, and it cautiously approached. As I picked up the kitten, I realized there was no one nearby who seemed to have lost it.
Speaking gently to the kitten, I felt a deep sense of calm wash over me. Shifting my focus to the kitten's situation, rather than my own, brought an unexpected sense of relief. Though the car was still locked, the shift in perspective improved my outlook significantly.
