Her soothing voice and genuine concern created a calming atmosphere. As I sat looking at the woods, a profound sense of peace slowly washed over me. I smiled at Gideon and winked at Marla, feeling at ease.
"It's fine," I whispered. "I know where He is."
"I think we've finally gotten through to him, Gideon," Marla said proudly.
Gideon nodded, "I think so."
"Yes, my dear friends," I continued, "God is right here with me?"in my heart, mind, and soul. I don’t need to go anywhere to find Him. By simply being quiet, I can hear Him speak. Now I truly understand what you meant about God always being here. At first, I knew it with my head, but now I feel it in my heart. Please forgive me for not realizing this sooner. I just wonder why it took so long."
"Nothing to forgive, John," said Gideon. "Each of us discovers our God at our own pace. For some, it happens quickly; for others, it takes time. You've done well, John."
Gideon reached into his jacket and handed me an envelope. "This letter is for you, John. God wanted me to deliver it personally."
I took the letter, murmuring a grateful "Thank you." The blue envelope read, "To John with love. Open immediately." It was signed "G." I carefully opened it, glancing at Gideon.
"Read it now, John," he encouraged. "Aloud, if you wish. We were there when He wrote it."
Leaning back in my chair, I made myself comfortable and began to read.
