Synopsis
One morning, as we sat on the porch with Marla, I anticipated God's arrival. Marla greeted me warmly, "Hello, John. This is a perfect setting for a divine meeting.""It certainly is," I replied. "But where is He, Marla? Isn’t today the day?"
"Yes, it is," Marla confirmed. Turning to Gideon, she urged, "Gideon, why don’t you explain?"
"Relax, John," Gideon reassured me. "I have a few things to share."
The Story
Seated on the porch with Marla, I was eagerly awaiting God's presence. "Hello, John," Marla said. "This is a wonderful setting to meet Him.""It certainly is," I responded, but I was anxious. "Where is He, Marla? Today’s supposed to be the day, right?"
"Yes," Marla replied. "The time is perfect." She nodded at Gideon. "Go ahead, Gideon."
"Relax, John," Gideon began calmly. "I have something important to tell you."
Frustration bubbled within me. "I knew it! I knew it!" My voice reflected my disappointment. Something told me He wouldn’t come. I sighed with resignation as the conversation paused. Gideon eventually leaned back, took a sip of coffee, and spoke again.
"John, listen carefully," he said. "God hasn’t disappointed you. In fact, He never does. I told you He’s never late. He did come. He's here?"in a different way than you expected. He wants you to know you don't have to visit the Big City to find Him. He’s always with you; no appointment needed. He’s here in this very moment, perceptible not just by sight but by feeling."
"Then where is He?" I asked, still feeling let down.
Marla chimed in gently, "John, can you trust us a bit longer?"
"Of course, Marla," I replied. "I’ve always trusted you and Gideon?"almost always."
"Good," Marla said, gesturing toward the trees. "Look around, be still, and quiet your wandering thoughts. Listen to your heart, and you'll begin to perceive God."
