A Tale of Love and Sacrifice
A princess fell deeply in love with a young man, declaring, "I must marry this man, or I shall die." Determined, she pursued him. Meanwhile, a wise Sannyasin suggested to the king, "Let us follow them," and they trailed behind at a safe distance.
The young Sannyasin, refusing the princess's proposal, ventured deep into the countryside. He eventually entered a dense forest, well-versed in its secret paths, and soon disappeared from the princess's view. Despite her best efforts, she couldn't find him and, feeling lost and heartbroken, sat beneath a tree and wept.
The king and the Sannyasin soon found her and comforted her with, "Do not weep; we will guide you out of the forest. But it is too dark now. Let us rest here beneath this tree and set out in the morning."
Above them, a family of birds observed the scene. The father bird turned to his wife and said, "We have guests, but no fire on this cold night." He flew off, returning swiftly with a piece of burning firewood. They built a fire to warm the guests. Unsatisfied with just providing warmth, the bird pondered, "We must also feed them, for it is our duty as householders. I will offer my own body to sustain them."
