Live Like A Lover!
Summary
Imagine seeing the world as someone in love always does. What if you could harness your mind's power to feel joy instead of dwelling on negativity?A New Perspective
Our minds have an incredible ability to focus on negative experiences: replaying embarrassing moments, regretting misstated words, or worrying about the future. But what if we asked ourselves, "How good can I feel?" Our brains are just as skilled at generating happiness as they are at producing unpleasant emotions. Plus, feeling good is undeniably more enjoyable! When I work with clients, I often ask, "How good would you like to feel?" Let's explore a simple way to fill your life with positive emotions.
Feeling the Difference
Try this exercise: Frown and recall a recent time you were upset. Take deep breaths into your belly, observing your surroundings. Notice how your environment mirrors your mood. Now, shake off that feeling, stand up, and move around. Let go of the negativity. Smile and remember a recent happy moment. Breathe deeply into your chest, and notice how your surroundings change. The world often reflects our emotional state. When we're joyful, colors seem brighter, voices cheerier, and everything feels more pleasant.
Embracing Love
Recall a time when you were truly in love?"a time that made you skip instead of walk. This universal experience is celebrated in countless songs, poems, and ads. Even if you're not currently in love, you can still embrace those wonderful feelings. Recall only the joyful memories, even if the relationship ended poorly.Imagine or remember those beautiful moments. Even if you've never experienced profound love, you're familiar enough with the concept through others and media to pretend. Your brain doesn't differentiate well between real and imagined experiences. Indulge in the love you wish you had.
Recollect and Imagine
Think of your loved one's face, voice, or touch. Recall a place or song that evokes those feelings. At first, it might be slow, but as you dwell on the sensory details of love, two things happen: memories become clearer, and this happy daydreaming becomes far more enjoyable than worrying.Make it a hobby to revisit these love-filled experiences. You'll soon find it increasingly easy to recall them, and the associated good feelings will flow naturally into your life. Whenever you feel a particularly wonderful emotion, gently squeeze your left hand into a fist. Let this become a signal for capturing those moments.
Building an Anchor
Throughout the week, frequently recall loving feelings and squeeze your fist with each happy thought. This practice creates an "anchor" in NLP terms. Soon, merely squeezing your fist will bring those loving feelings rushing back.Picture this: your partner of twenty years walks in, and as you smile and squeeze your fist, you see them with the same infatuation as when you first fell in love. Practicing this consistently can lead you to repeatedly fall in love with the same person, which is a delightful experience.
Reality or Illusion?
Are these loving feelings genuine or simply crafted illusions? Consider this: the negative feelings you create through worrying are no less contrived. Why not choose thoughts and feelings that uplift and invigorate you? After all, you're already crafting emotions, so embrace the ones that make you feel alive and joyful!Embrace the love-centered mindset and transform your world for the better. Live like a lover every day!
