Know Why You Want What You Desire

As we welcome a new year, it brings the promise of fresh beginnings and opportunities. With twelve months ahead, we strive to achieve new goals, whether they are ambitious or modest. The key to realizing these goals lies in taking consistent steps in your chosen direction.

Surprisingly, the first step is not just knowing what you want, but understanding why you want it. This insight is crucial as it taps into your core motivation. Without clarity on your reasons, you may easily fall into procrastination traps. Sometimes, you might not genuinely want what you think, or your reasons might not align with your true desires.

Many coaches observe that clients often begin with a specific agenda, only to uncover a completely different goal later. This is because we tend to set goals unconsciously. By recognizing what truly matters, we may find that our real desires are simpler or, conversely, more complex and challenging than expected. Understanding our genuine motivations can be both unsettling and invigorating. When it aligns with our authentic desires, the journey itself becomes joyful.

Once you identify your true goals, you'll see if they align with your core values. Any conflict will likely lead to self-sabotage, even if you're unaware of it. When goals align with your values, you'll commit to them, overcoming any obstacles along the way.

This year, one of my major ambitions is to start personal retreats focused on teaching happiness and integrating outdoor adventures. Although the specifics are still evolving, I am driven by a clear purpose. I want to combine group coaching with enjoyable activities because I often encounter people who invest more in vacations than in personal growth, yet question their happiness. I am dedicated to showing them that happiness is accessible now, not dependent on perfect life conditions.

I’m also motivated by the desire for fun and freedom in my life. For me, fun means fully enjoying what I'm doing. Freedom is about having choices and not acting out of obligation but genuine desire. My life is a continuous adventure, and while my initial plan is still in its infancy, I see it as an exciting journey. I am allowing myself the time to explore how to turn this vision into reality without pressure?"ensuring it remains enjoyable and liberating.

Along the way, I may even discover a different path I wish to pursue, and that's perfectly fine. The process of exploration, with fun and freedom, is what I truly seek.

So, before you start chasing your goals, ask yourself why you want to achieve them. What will this accomplishment bring you? Focus on the essence of your desires. If you find yourself taking unexpected detours or changing your path entirely, embrace it. You'll enjoy the journey, which is ultimately what life is all about.
