From Pain to Purpose
Celebrating a Decade Together
In March 2006, my husband and I marked our tenth wedding anniversary?"a milestone that seemed impossible without divine intervention, the guidance of my pastors, and unwavering faith. This journey of faith taught me to start anew, remain open, and be a channel for God's work in inspiring other women.
A Tumultuous Turning Point
On April 28, 2004, my world shattered. In an ambulance ride the following day, I felt as if I was on the brink of losing my sanity. Overwhelmed by despair, I doubted God's presence in my life, questioning why my heart's desires seemed unattainable.
A Painful Realization
In the emergency room, amidst laughter that felt like mockery, I was engulfed in heartbreak. My husband had returned home just days after our third child's birth, declaring he was leaving. This nightmare stretched into eight months of emotional warfare, tears, prayer, and learning my true purpose.
Sharing My Story
My experiences are a testimony, and I hope they help even one woman to breathe again. This act of sharing is not just for others but a healing journey for myself too.
Lessons in Faith
For a long time, I believed that a life centered around the church would safeguard my marriage. I was wrong; a relationship with God was necessary for both partners. Following my husband's departure, diagnosed with stress-induced ailments, I refused medication that might lead to dependence, unaware I'd soon rely on something else.
A New Resolve
Eventually, I took a stand. My children wouldn't witness a chaotic household. Despite my desperate wish for my husband to stay, I had to maintain dignity and self-respect. Accepting another woman's presence wasn’t an option.
Facing Reality
My resolve was tested when he finally took his belongings. It was a moment of physical and emotional overwhelm. He had truly left, and the conversations were full of dismissive indifference. The transformation in him was devastating for our children and me.
Finding Strength
Through self-reflection and facing responsibilities I had never managed alone, I leaned on my children and faith to keep going.
A Mother's Heartache
My daughter's innocent prayers for her father's return and my son's seething anger broke my heart. Hearing well-meaning but empty reassurances only added to my frustration. I hid behind a façade, juggling responsibilities with silent resilience, as my children became my anchor.
Rediscovering Life
I threw myself into activities, both for myself and my children. Staying busy helped us cope with feelings of abandonment. Despite the rage others expected me to feel, I couldn't hate him. I remembered the man I loved before he changed.
Rebuilding and Rediscovery
My marriage eventually found its way back, but, more importantly, I rediscovered myself. This personal journey inspired the founding of Breathe Again Magazine, a platform for women to share stories of triumph and healing.
A Mission to Inspire
The magazine aims to encourage and motivate, offering stories of inspiration that help women feel seen and heard. Our quarterly events provide an opportunity for women to take a break, renew their spirits, and prioritize themselves.
Through this journey, I learned that God's challenges can lead to profound purpose, providing us with the strength to lift others even when we ourselves feel broken.
