If you're anything like me, your garage, attic, or basement might be overflowing with clutter?"outdated clothes, old toys, and paperwork you no longer need. These items often hold sentimental value but are merely taking up valuable space.

This clutter isn’t just physical; it can weigh you down psychologically, too. Unless you're drowning in stuff, it might not seem like a big deal. But, consider the mental clutter we carry?"memories of blissful moments like weddings and births, alongside sadder times like deaths and losses. While these memories contribute to the richness of our lives, they can also become burdensome.

Forgiveness is a powerful tool to purge this mental clutter. In future writings, I'll delve into specific techniques for using forgiveness to rid yourself of this unnecessary baggage.

The true purpose of forgiveness is not just self-improvement, benefiting the other person, or aligning with spiritual beliefs, although those are beneficial aspects. Its core goal is to clear negativity from your subconscious, freeing you to achieve your full potential.

One of my favorite Bible quotes is, “By beholding, we become changed.” This means the more you focus on something, the more it defines you. Are you fixated on wealth or debt? Health or sickness?

Focusing on bitterness or adversity integrates these negative experiences into your being. One reason we exist on Earth is to learn that we have dominion, not domination, over our lives, allowing us to achieve our desires.

Consider this exercise: visualize your unconscious mind divided into sections, isolating all negativity?"troubles, resentments, and difficulties?"into one compartment. What portion of your mind is occupied by this mental garbage? Imagine assigning it a percentage, such as 5% of your unconscious. How does it feel to know this large a segment of your mind is engaged in negativity? Would you willingly donate 5% of your income to a negative cause?

By embracing forgiveness, we can clear that 1%, 5%, or 15% of mental clutter, creating room for the positive changes we seek.

Stay tuned for Part II, where I’ll outline the forgiveness process in detail.
