Today, we're diving into a crucial concept: understanding the true meaning of "practice makes perfect." This idea is vital, so it’s time to explore it right away.

When pursuing a goal, it's important to balance focusing on results with understanding the process and steps required to achieve them.

A few years ago, I noticed the significance of this while working with top junior tennis players across the country. I would travel nationwide, observing and coaching these talented individuals. I often asked them, "What's the most important part of your game at this high level? Is it your physical skills and fitness, or your mental and emotional strength?" The overwhelming response was the mental and emotional aspect. At the elite level, players are typically on par with skills and fitness.

The next question I asked was, "How much time do you spend each day practicing the mental and emotional part of the game?" Surprisingly, the answer was always "none." This was consistent everywhere. The most crucial part of their game was receiving no time or attention. Even more concerning, when I observed their practice sessions, I noticed that mistakes were often met with frustration and anger.

So, let me ask you: What happens when you repeat an action repeatedly? It becomes a habit. Consequently, these tennis players were inadvertently practicing anger and frustration. Under competition pressure, they would get angry when things didn’t go their way, leading to tension and tightness that hindered their performance. This cycle of negativity continued until they vented their frustration dramatically, like smashing a racquet.

Now, you might wonder how this applies to you. Well, many people unknowingly practice negative emotions daily. During our everyday challenges (which we no longer call problems), positive thinking and discipline can lead to constructive responses. Yet, too often, we let anger or frustration take over, allowing emotions to control us and adopting a lazy approach to emotional mastery.

Remember the "Law of the Farm"? One cent doubled daily becomes almost 11 million dollars. We need to apply this principle to our emotional lives. View seemingly minor challenges as valuable opportunities to practice positive emotions. By consistently choosing positivity, you’ll notice a shift in your emotional responses, even under pressure.

So, ask yourself, "What emotions am I practicing?" Practice indeed makes perfect, but what do you want to perfect? Surely not negative emotions. Let's focus on practicing positivity!

Until next time, remember you only have your bad habits to lose?"so go for it!

All the best,
