Self-Esteem: How to Let Your Light Shine
Summary
Recently, I had an enlightening experience: I crafted a gift for someone, and they absolutely adored it. When they asked how long it took, I casually said, "Just a few hours"?"even though it took me over 30. Why did I downplay my effort? This made me ponder.
Article Body
This incident prompted reflection on why I tend to hide my efforts and accomplishments. Many of us do this, holding back parts of ourselves, afraid of being seen as boastful. Modesty is a valuable trait, but it shouldn’t prevent us from celebrating our achievements.
Sharing our gifts is different from showing off. Looking back, I see that I was an underachiever, not due to a lack of ability, but due to embarrassment and fear of drawing attention. Perhaps you've felt the same, hesitant to share your talents? Afraid of ridicule or rejection?
The truth is, our “light” isn’t ours to hide. It was given to us by a higher power. Each of us carries a spark of the Divine, and suppressing it denies not only ourselves but also the world?"and even the Divine itself. We’re meant to enrich others not as a means of self-elevation, but to contribute and uplift. Imagine if the sun refused to shine or a flower was too afraid to bloom. Hiding our gifts helps no one.
We often believe we have nothing to offer, feeling like empty shells. Yet nature abhors a vacuum. Even if you feel empty, something is there?"be it chaos or joy, hope or doubt. If you’re unhappy with what’s inside, remember you can change it through your thoughts.
You possess something to share. If you explore your soul, you might rediscover a forgotten dream, a spark of excitement you once felt. Dust it off, breathe new life into it, and let it shine.
Ultimately, remember: the only person holding you back is you. Let your light shine brightly.
