New Year's Resolutions
Have You Stuck to Your New Year’s Resolutions?
Most of us haven't kept our New Year’s resolutions, and many have stopped trying altogether. Why is that? Are you going to wait another year to give it another shot? Many abandon their goals after a single failure, but this puts unnecessary pressure on yourself.
I found an inspiring phrase from the British Heart Foundation: "A lapse is not a collapse." Failing once doesn't mean you've failed entirely. Success often requires multiple attempts. Thomas Edison noted, "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." It's said that Edison, after numerous failed experiments, remarked, "I've learned 700 ways not to make a light bulb." Whether true or not, this story vividly illustrates the power of persistence.
Before you try again, reconsider your goals. Ask yourself: Is it worth achieving? Is there a better way? Do I need assistance? Should I break a large goal into smaller ones? Have I set too many goals?
Remember to be persistent. Louis Pasteur shared, "My strength lies solely in my tenacity."
Make this year one where you move closer to your full potential:
"The least you can do is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof." ?" Barbara Kingsolver
Consider that a baby falls about 1,500 times while learning to walk. Imagine if we gave up as easily now as we did then. Keep going!
