Would You Rather Fly or Be Invisible?
Summary
Which superpower would you choose for yourself or your child: the ability to fly or to be invisible?
Article Body
Recently, a popular children's TV channel conducted a fascinating survey. They asked kids which superpower they would prefer: the ability to fly or to be invisible.
For me, it’s an easy choice?"flying, without a doubt!
Flying offers limitless possibilities for fun, adventure, and freedom. Imagine being able to travel anywhere at any time, without worrying about traffic or expenses.
While invisibility has its perks, it feels a bit sneaky to me, and that makes me uncomfortable.
My son shares my enthusiasm for flying. He loves being active and on the move, so his choice was no surprise.
But this question got me thinking?"what does our choice say about us? I'd be curious to know why a child might choose invisibility over flying. It could indicate feelings of insecurity or a desire to go unnoticed. Such a choice might prompt concerns about their self-esteem and social interactions.
On the practical side, invisibility can certainly be useful, serving many noble purposes both big and small.
This question isn’t new?"it’s been pondered before. A public radio station once delved into this topic, asking their audience the same question.
Interestingly, men generally preferred flying, envisioning easier commutes with their kids, while women leaned toward invisibility, wanting insights into conversations about them. Sadly, no one considered using these powers for the greater good.
I found those results disappointing but not entirely surprising. I wouldn’t call myself a cynic, but I’m often more surprised by acts of heroic kindness than I am by other behaviors.
While this may seem like a simple question akin to "If you could be an animal, what would you be?" it opens the door to deeper discussions. What are your thoughts?
Which superpower would you choose? More importantly, which would you want for your child?
