Kathy was nestled in her California home with her 3-year-old daughter, Lindsay, when an actress on TV sparked an idea with her Victorian jewelry line. "I’d love to design jewelry," Kathy thought. But self-doubt quickly stifled the dream.
Years passed. Kathy had two more children and moved twice, eventually settling near Houston, Texas. Fast forward fifteen years, and Kathy is the proud owner of The Angel Stop, a Christian retail business offering jewelry and home decor, based in Sugar Land, Texas.
Reflecting on her journey, Kathy shares less about business jargon and more about the divine healing she experienced along the way. She emphasizes the role of her faith in shaping her path to entrepreneurship.
"My journey with the company has been profoundly healing," Kathy explains. "I didn’t plan to start a business, but I believe God had a purpose for it."
What began in 1996 as a creative outlet for Kathy became a successful venture. With four children, including two toddlers, managing time was a challenge. Yet, designing brass and silver-plated angel pins provided a quick creative escape. Initially gifts for family and friends, her pins caught the eye of someone connected to the Atlanta Gift Mart. By 1998, her designs were showcased in one of its top showrooms. Thus, The Angel Stop was born.
Through this business journey, Kathy experienced a deeper personal healing. Her past was marked by events that left her seeking redemption and forgiveness. She battled shame and low self-esteem, often retreating to a mental "prison cell" where she felt safe.
In 1997, Kathy hit rock bottom emotionally but found solace and hope in Isaiah 61:3. "Outwardly, I seemed to have everything, but my life felt like ashes," she recalls. Yet, over time, God transformed her ashes into beauty, giving her a new foundation and purpose.
The business became an integral part of her healing. As the company grew, Kathy was pushed beyond her comfort zone. This forced reliance on her faith led to profound personal growth. "I realized my life is about displaying God’s glory, and I hope The Angel Stop reflects that."
Today, Kathy aims to inspire other women to embrace their God-given potential with courage. She’s learned that faith doesn’t eliminate fear but gives the strength to face it.
Reflecting on her journey that began eleven years ago, Kathy acknowledges the challenges but believes every struggle was worthwhile. "A few years ago, God reminded me of sitting with my daughter in San Jose, thinking I couldn’t design jewelry. Now, I see anything is possible through Him."

Kathy’s inspiring story shows how faith and determination can turn dreams into reality, encouraging all women to step boldly into their purpose.
