How to Overcome a Stammer
Introduction
Hello, my name is Stephen Hill. I successfully conquered a stammer that troubled me for eighteen years. Now, my passion is to assist others in achieving fluency.
My Journey
During my struggle with stammering, I attended numerous speech therapy sessions where I was advised to slow down or take deep breaths before speaking. Unfortunately, these techniques did not yield significant results for me even after eighteen years.
I strongly believed that my stammer had both psychological and physical components. There were moments when I could speak fluently, such as when talking to my girlfriend or after having a drink.
Determined to find a solution, I delved into books on positive thinking and observed how fluent speakers communicated. My goal was to relearn the art of speaking.
Breaking Through
Initially, I was skeptical about overcoming my stammer, especially since many believed it was impossible. However, persistence paid off. After about a year of dedication, I managed to overcome my stammer.
Helping Others
Now, I channel my experiences into helping others achieve fluency. I run The How To Stop Stammering Centre in Birmingham, where I support individuals on their journey to clear speech.
By sharing my story, I hope to inspire others to believe in their capacity to overcome a stammer, no matter how daunting it may seem.
