So, you've decided to dive into the world of Affiliate Marketing to make some money. You join various affiliate programs and start publishing ads in newsletters and free classifieds. You're set to make BIG money, right?
Not so fast! Simply sending out a few ads won’t cut it if you're aiming for real success.
First, identify your true passion?"beyond just making money. What are your hobbies? What do you excel at? What’s your profession? Everyone has a unique talent. Find yours.
Chances are, you have more than one area of interest or expertise. Try to identify five, or even ten, if you’re ambitious. List them all. Remember, you’ll be spending a lot of time on this topic, so make sure it excites you!
Review each item on your list and draft a rough outline of everything you know about the topic. It doesn’t need to be detailed; just enough to gauge the amount of information you have.
Try mind mapping: write down your main topic and circle it. Think of related sub-categories, draw lines from your main idea, and circle these sub-categories. Explore as many as you can.
Follow this process for each of your interests. Choose the one you know extensively and feel comfortable discussing.
Worried you don’t know enough? Do some research! Read books, browse magazines, and search online. You might discover a niche that's waiting for your expertise.
Of course, there’s much more to affiliate marketing, but the initial step is finding your passion. Your passion doesn’t need to be Internet marketing. It could be cooking, sewing, billiards, or anything else. In fact, it's better to find a unique niche outside of online marketing, since that's where everyone else is heading.
Make your topic unique. Own it. Let it be your passion. And it will reward you richly.
