After reading numerous reviews, we decided to book our stay at the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta. Despite having a suite with a golf course view rather than a sea view, we were far from disappointed.
Accommodation
The suite was incredibly spacious, clean, and vibrant. As a family of four, we found it exceptionally comfortable. The children’s beds were stowed during the day and prepared at night by the attentive housekeeping staff, who visited twice daily. Our master bedroom featured a king-sized bed, a cozy sitting area with a couch and TV, plus a luxurious bathroom complete with a Jacuzzi and separate shower. Being situated on a higher floor, we enjoyed a scenic view without any disturbances from construction noises.
Resort Amenities
The swimming pools took center stage during our vacation. The highlight was undoubtedly the lazy river winding through the resort, offering hours of relaxing fun with rented tubes. The wave pool was another favorite for both kids and adults.
Dining Options
While breakfast buffets at Samba were outstanding, the food quality varied across the resort. Given the limited kitchen facilities in the suite, we often opted for dining out. I highly recommend El Palomar and other nearby restaurants like Fajitas Republic and Guidos. Los Almendritos offers a delightful outdoor setting, while the Vista Grill provides stunning views of the bay and Puerto Vallarta, albeit at a higher price.
Additional Attractions
Beyond the pool and dining, the Brio Spa provided some much-needed relaxation for my wife, and even I found time to work out there. I also enjoyed playing golf on their well-designed course.
Final Thoughts
Our experience at the Grand Mayan Nuevo Vallarta was a memorable one. While the resort is distinctly vibrant and perhaps too Americanized for European tastes, the top-notch facilities and endless activities make it an excellent choice for families. Our children loved every moment, making it a vacation to cherish.
