Iron Palm, Part 11
Title:
Iron Palm, Part 11Summary:
This segment continues from Iron Palm Q&A With Sigung Richard Clear, Part 10. It discusses a course on self-defense techniques, focusing on one-hit knockouts and scenario training.Article:
I offer a two-day course on one-hit knockouts combined with scenario training designed for executives, business owners, and their families. Graduates of this course, around twelve so far, have faced physical confrontations where they applied their training successfully. In each instance, the attacker was either knocked out or incapacitated, and in one case, an attacker even suffered a broken arm upon first contact.
Students are first taught to retreat if possible and to create a deterrent, prompting most attackers to back off. Over 60 course graduates have effectively stopped violent encounters by implementing this strategy before a situation became physical.
However, when an attacker is physically aggressive, especially if they’re stronger or in a group, using force through a one-hit knockout or Iron Palm strike is justified. After neutralizing the threat, students are instructed to immediately retreat and contact the police from a safe location.
When dealing with a hardened criminal or someone under the influence, employing a limited amount of force isn’t practical. It’s crucial to use as much avoidance and deterrence as possible, and if those fail, incapacitate the attacker swiftly.
For readers concerned about legal implications, it’s worth noting that I’ve taught this program to several attorneys who recognize it as a smart judicial use of force, effectively protecting law-abiding individuals in dangerous situations.
