What is the history of your Iron Palm training?
My initial introduction to Iron Palm came through Tyrone Jackson, the senior disciple of Dr. Fred Wu. Dr. Wu himself was a protégé of the legendary Lee Ying-Arng, a remarkable Kung Fu Master from a bygone era. Lee Ying-Arng eventually settled in Hong Kong, where he held esteemed positions such as President of the Inner System Martial Arts Association and Vice President of the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Association, among others.
Lee was not only a master of Wu Tang Kung Fu and internal arts, but also a Doctor of Chiropractic and Acupuncture. He dedicated over a decade to studying Dim Mak, including the elusive Delayed Death Touch, with renowned masters. He was a senior disciple of Yang Chen Fu and learned Mind Fist (Yee Chuan/I-Chuan) from its founder, Professor Wang Shian-Jie.
In 1968, Lee authored "Iron Palm in 100 Days," a book that was republished several times. It detailed various Iron Palm training methods and internal palm techniques. He elucidated a section from the Yi Chin Ching, a classic temple manuscript, which includes an Iron Palm method resembling the direct approach.
I embarked on my Kung Fu journey in 1979 and began training under Tyrone Jackson in 1984. One of Tyrone’s first endeavors was to enhance my existing Kung Fu forms, making them more suitable for Dim Mak striking techniques. This modification involved mastering points, meridians, and Iron Palm techniques.
