Restless Night Before the Dr. Cue Pool Tournament
Tomorrow marks the annual Dr. Cue Billiards Tournament in Pueblo, Colorado, and it's no wonder I can't sleep. As I sit here typing at 4:36 AM on March 1, 2008, I should be resting up for the big day.
The tournament is a significant event in Pueblo, attracting players from across Colorado and sometimes beyond. With two BCA National Champions residing here, along with many talented players, the competition promises to be fierce.
Last night, I attended the amazing trick shot exhibition by Dr. Cue himself, Tom Rossman, where I paid my $40 entry fee. The event was as entertaining as ever. I made it home by 10:30 PM, hoping to catch some sleep, but ended up dozing off around 11:30.
Unfortunately, my eyes popped open just before 2:00 AM, and I've been wide awake since. Thursday night wasn't much better, with only about four hours of sleep. I’m hoping that writing this post might help tire me out.
I'll be bringing my laptop to the tournament to report on the event between my matches, and my video camera to capture some exciting moments. This should lead to some engaging content.
Between a couple of brain freeze episodes and watching billiards on my DVR, it's already 5:00 AM. I need to be at the pool hall by 10:00 AM. Why is it that pool tournaments always start early, when pool players are more accustomed to late nights?
I think my plan might be working. I just had a serious yawning attack, so I’ll try to squeeze in 3 or 4 more hours of sleep before the Dr. Cue Pool Tournament kicks off today.
