I've Always Loved Being Barefoot
For as long as I can remember, going barefoot has brought me pure joy. No pair of shoes or sandals can match the happiness my feet feel when they’re free. It just seems so natural to me, and I seize every chance to be barefoot.
My love for it likely stems from growing up by a lake. From the first signs of summer until the snow threatened, my siblings and I would hit the beach, shoeless and carefree. We’d spend hours playing in the sand and splashing in the water, dreading the start of school where shoes were obligatory. However, I often found sneaky ways to slip them off under my desk.
Today, if you visit my home, you’ll seldom see my feet covered. Even in the dead of winter, I’ll forgo socks or slippers, savoring the sense of freedom and the way it regulates my body temperature.
Choosing writing as my profession was perfect. Whether I’m at home or the office, I can indulge in being barefoot. My co-workers often chuckle when they see my shoes abandoned by the door. While some find it odd, to me, there’s nothing more comfortable.
