How to Build a Kite
Discover the simplest way to craft your own fun and flyable kite.
What You Need:
- Garden twine- Scotch tape
- A sturdy sheet of paper (about 102 x 102 cm)
- Two straight wooden sticks (90 cm and 102 cm)
- Colored markers
Steps to Build Your Kite:
1. Assemble the Frame:
- Create a Cross: Position the longer stick vertically and the shorter one horizontally. Secure them together where they intersect.- Prepare the Notches: Cut small notches at each end of both sticks to hold the string.
- Wrap the Frame: Cut a length of string to fit around the entire frame. Loop the string through each notch, wrapping securely. Finish by winding it four times around the top and trimming any extra string. Ensure the frame is taut.
2. Attach the Sail:
- Position the Paper: Lay your paper flat and place the frame face down on it.- Cut and Secure: Trim around the frame, leaving a 2 cm margin. Fold the edges over the frame and secure them with tape, ensuring the paper is tight.
3. Add the Flying String:
- Prepare the String: Cut a 120 cm string. Tie one end to the top loop and the other to the loop at the bottom.- Create the Flying Loop: Make a small loop above where the sticks cross. This is where you'll attach your flying line.
4. Make a Tail:
- Attach the Tail: Tie small ribbons every 10 cm along a piece of string. Attach this to the bottom of your kite.5. Decorate:
Use colored markers to personalize your kite. Now your kite is ready to soar!Enjoy watching it dance in the skies!
