Billiards: A Game for Everyone
Billiards is a fantastic game that almost anyone can learn and enjoy. Regardless of age, size, or physical strength, it's accessible to all.
Growing up, we had a billiards table in our family’s basement, and it quickly became central to my life. These early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for the game.
In Pueblo, Colorado, our local billiards scene is vibrant, with leagues catering to players of all ages. Some leagues welcome minors as young as 18, while recreational rooms often have no age restrictions. Remarkably, we even have a competitive 10-year-old who’s been participating in leagues for several years.
Billiards is truly inclusive. In our town, players with various disabilities, including those in wheelchairs, actively participate, proving that pool is a sport for everyone.
Each May, I compete in the BCA National Billiards Tournament in Las Vegas. The competition is fierce, with skilled players of all ages, both men and women. Success demands precision and strategy; you either need to execute a successful run or skillfully control the table.
Even my five-year-old has started playing. Initially, he needed to stand on an ice chest or a milk crate, but now he’s reaching the table from the floor. His future in the game looks promising if he starts practicing more often, though for now, he prefers playing with his mom or me. As his skills improve, I'm confident his interest will grow.
Playing pool is not only a great way to pass the time but also an exciting competitive outlet. If you’re a pool enthusiast, have you explored the fundamentals of billiards? I highly recommend taking a course or reading a book on the basics. A quick online search for "pool billiards tips" can also provide valuable guidance.
To your success on the table,
Ted
